MainLine Gaming returns to DotA by picking up Team Clean up Crew. Clean up Crew is a mix of two former American teams that recently disbanded. I caught up with the leader, KiDDo, to talk to him about their newly formed team and their newly acquired sponsor.
Ganked: Can you please introduce yourself?
mL|KiDDo: Hello, my name is Anthony "KiDDo" Giordano. I have been playing DotA for about six months now, about two months of competitive DotA. I play on Team mainLine Gaming.
Ganked: Describe your team and what roles they play.
mL|KiDDo: KiDDo - Support
Brax10 - Semi-Carry
Deadpresident - Support / Ganker
Saga16 - Ganker
KyunG - Semi-Carry / Ganker
0n1y0n3 - Carry
5-s - Versitile
Ken - Carry
RougeStark - Ganker / Support
Ganked: Tell us how this team came together?
mL|KiDDo: Originally we were team rivals. Brax, Saga, DeadPresident and I were on Team gg2u, and they were on Team Xero Hour. We both started around the same time, and at that time none of us were on IRC finding scrims, so we played each other a lot. Naturally, being defeated by the same team over and over again created a rivalry, but after gg2u disbanded and Xero disbanded, we decided to leave our past behind us and create one strong team.
Ganked: Do you have a set starting 5?
mL|KiDDo: At this point we are just playing with whoever wants to play. I find that putting out a starting line-up complicates teams too much and it starts a lot of drama. Generally a decision would have to be made before a match, but our team is pretty generous in letting the others play while they sit.
Ganked: How do you think you compare to other North American teams?
mL|KiDDo: I'd compare our team to FyC at this point, only because of some innovative picks / line-ups that we have being trying out. As far as skill goes, I won't go too far into that because I'd prefer to stay away from the drama by saying "we're better than them and them", etc.
Ganked: You say you have innovative picks - does that come from one person picking a certain strategy or is it generally team oriented?
mL|KiDDo: Our innovation comes a lot from Brax10, he is mainly the mastermind; however everyone pitches in.
Ganked: Would you like to elaborate on the innovations or is that something we will have to wait to see?
mL|KiDDo: For the most part you will have to wait and see, but Razor has been a topic of choice with us as of recently.
Ganked: What do you think are the benefits of picking Razor over another carry hero?
mL|KiDDo: I think that the benefits of picking Razor over some other carries is the fact that most teams don't know how to play against him. He's the kind of hero that you don't see picked very often, and when he does get picked it causes issues about "how to counter", "how to lane against", etc. His armor reduction is absolutely imbalanced, especially with 6.64 because I think that with the change from Hood/Pipe not adding armor, physical damage is key, making heroes like sp extremely viable.
Ganked: What leagues do you plan on entering?
mL|KiDDo: Right now, we plan on playing in Cevo-P Season 3, DotA League Pick League, DL Cup, and any other great leagues that come up!
Ganked: Does your team plan on attending any LANs?
mL|KiDDo: At this point, we have certain members planning on attending certain LANs, because we are half Canadian, and half American it is hard to get a LAN that both of us can attend, and the fact that Brax is West, and the rest of us are East also influences it. Deadpresident and I plan on attending the Hamilton LAN, and we have plans to attend the WCG 2010 LAN.
Ganked: How did you land the mainLine Gaming sponsorship?
mL|KiDDo: We have found some interest with mainLine Gaming because of their past experience with top tier DotA players, with the previous mainLine DotA division. One thing led to another and we ended up tagging up with mainLine Gaming.
Ganked: What do you think of the Cevo-P Playoffs results so far and how do you expect it to finish?
mL|KiDDo: I think it has been very exciting and very unpredictable. We have seen upset after upset. As for the rest of the playoffs, EG will take it, hands down.
Ganked: Any predictions on who will face EG in the grand finals?
mL|KiDDo: Definitely Blight.usa, the match will be very close, and will not be one sided in any way. Blight has shown the world that they can take on top teams such as fnatic, and they can very possibly take EG in the finals.
Ganked: Thank you for your time, any shoutouts?
mL|KiDDo: Shoutout to: Ted and Jay, my parents, GDT, TFT, Desrow, Blight, Daeg, Sam, Drew, Ken, frankie, Lust, Malicious, Five-S, Viable, Broski, OhhBaby, FyC, 51, Ganked for going hard for kiddo, MN, Risk, and gg2u^Shark-, mainLine`Jdub, mL Gaming, NationVoice, Jest servers, ThermalTake, SteelSeries, and the rest of mainLine teams including the CS, CoD4, and TF2 divisons! colmo aka kanye west aka the best

c) how will this affect kiddo's role as manager of DG?
d) shoutout to ganked and brax
1) "EG will take it, hands down."
2) "Blight has shown the world that they can take on top teams such as fnatic, and they can very possibly take EG in the finals."
So.... EG will win it hands down (aka for sure), but blight can very possibly beat them!
RAWR THE PARADOX POLICE ARE HERE.
I remember the old mainline but I don't remember them being "top tier" either way good luck with the team kind of adding pressure on yourselves by gettin a sponsor before you even had one match though.
thats just insulting.
Kiddo is it true u stomped gdt and fyc
i like how he said the I'd compare our team to fyc, it makes us look like arrogant assholes that think we're better than everyone else
