Most Optimal Hotkeys
I'm trying to figure out the most optimal set-up
I understand that legacy might be more comfortable for people, but ok here is what I have
Items: 1-6
Attack: a
hold: h
stop: s
talk: tab
Skills: qwer .. df
I'm not sure if I like the df
Control groups: tyg
Thumb does these next ones
select hero: space
open shop: b
upgrade skills: n
upgrade stats: m
select courier: v
give items to hero from courier: c
Anyone have a set-up that is more optimal?

Ctrl Groups: 1-5
Skills: qwer..d&alt+d
Items: f g t alt+a m4 m5
Think everything else is default
Kinda weird but they're all easy to access so when you're used to them everything's fast. I always put my hero in group 1, then courier in 2-5 based on how many other ctrl groups i need.
Pretty sure there's not a right setup, most people's are a little different.

ive always wondered how people have items for setup
legacy
f1 for hero
f2 for other units
f3 for courier
1-2 for control groups
3-6 for items
ctrl + a for wand/bkb usually
ctrl + d for treads
i had 1-4 as control groups from wc3 when i needed more shit hotkeyed with 5-0 as items but that was terrible so i switch ed aocuple months agorêål †råþ §hï†

It is preference, but I've talked to people who use legacy and some want to switch to the qwer method. They admit it would probably improve there play, but it would be annoying to get use to.
notjack that is very interesting. You just came up with that and then got use to it?

I was not expecting such difficult looking set-ups. Why do you guys have your hand travel all over your keyboard?

legacy
1 hero
2 courier
3 4 5 control groups
ctrl + e, r, t, f, g, v items
mouse4 quickbuy
mouse5 shop
non legacy is better and it's something i wanted to adapt to but there's no time anymoreLast edited by ixmike88; July 30th, 2012 at 12:56 PM.

I use legacy and don't think I could ever switch. I just stopped hitting alt all game to show hp bars like two months ago...
The only real benefit I see for switching from legacy is just to open up more hotkeys. Right now my entire left keyboard is used by spells, but most of them are open in any given game since they're assigned to heroes I'm not playing. If I switched to QWER or anything standard, I would have more keys open for items, glyph, etc. I have my items on 3-6 + a mouse button + F4. Not ideal, but I'm pretty much out of keys with courier on `, hero on 1, other units on 2.

I need to set a tp quick buy hotkey. Half the time I go into the side shop and right click it from the quick buy it does nothing.
