It's just less than optimal to use a modifier before optimal when talking about how optimal something is, optimally.

Everything is phony, and everyone is pleased.

Can you hotkey items in the shop? I used hotkeys to buy all my items in dota1 and I'm sick of clicking shit.

I used to be a legacy player but i decided to force myself into the qwer scheme. Hasnt been an easy transition but it is easier to control items now since the transition. Still use legacy on heros accidently for first 2 minutes.
Spells: Q,W,E,R,D,F
Hero:1
Courier:2
Items : 3,4,g,c,v
no i dont have anything for multiple groups i usually just use tab or click a shit load. i do not enjoy micro intensive heros such as chen or meepo
edit:
Speak : Space
Shop : capslock

I use legacy keys control 1-6
1 hero
4 courier
(I only use 2, 3 and 5 if i am playing a micro intensive hero)
I don't use quick buy but i use sticky (the tp on your quickbuy and it's kp_minus (-) is the hotkey)
F2 select courier
F4 scoreboard
F9 glyph
Pause/Break for Pause (lol)
Items is still in the numpad but it's alright I'm using naga anyways.

Almost no one uses alt+ or crtl+ anymore. It saves a bunch of space.
I find my keys to be really efficient. I've experimented with a lot of different setups and this is the best I've found so far. I might change to alt+ qweasd instead of qwaszx, alt+x is awkward to do, but I got used to it! I'm a tinker enthusiast so I often use 6 activatible items.
F1 hero
F4 scoreboard
F9 Glyph
1,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 control groups
2 chicken
0 is glyph (never accidentally pressing this)
Qwer df skills
Alt+ qwaszx items
Z shop
X quick buy items in quick buy
C tp scroll buy
V auto command courier to pick up items and deliver to me (does all with one key)
~ talk
Alt+1 select all units
Tab switch through control groups
A attack
H hold
S stopLast edited by WinkieDuck; July 30th, 2012 at 06:48 PM.

if you honestly think some hotkey setups are "better" than others you're just fucking slow
you need like 14-15 keys to play dota as long as you don't use retarded shit you're gonna be fineEverything is phony, and everyone is pleased.

Legacy
Most heroes:
1 Hero (I don't like F1 for hero due to an old SC1 hero arena habit that carried over to WC3/DotA/DotA 2)
2 Control Group (Courier)
3 Control Group (Hero + Images + Necrobook)
4 Courier
Items: QZX Space 56 (Rarely use 56 as it is uncomfortable for me, but don't know where else to put it)
Chen, Brood, Enigma:
1 Hero
2 Minions
3 Hero + Minions + Images
4 Courier
Items: QZX Space 56
Tinker
1 Hero
2 Courier
3 Hero + Images
4 Courier
Items: QZX Space GV (Only time I know for sure I need 6 item keys)
Some heroes use Q Z or X as part of their legacy setup:
Shadow Fiend (Legacy)
1 Hero
2 Courier
3 Hero + Images
4 Courier
Items: QWE Space 56
Rubick / Invoker (Non Legacy QWERDF)
1 Hero
2 Courier
3 Hero + Images
4 Courier
Items: GZX Space CV
Kunkka / Death Prophet (Legacy):
1 Hero
2 Courier
3 Hero + Images
4 Courier
Items: GZX Space 5 6
