Welp, my brand new galaxy nexus just marinated in a protein shake for 10 minutes. Anyone know of a way I can get a new one without spending $400 on amazon/newegg? Very open to greyhat schemes that involve somehow starting a new verizon account to get the phone for $99. Also willing to whore myself out for 1 night in exchange for a new phone.

r u starting a new contract? if so LG Thrill is only 50 bucks, atleast when i got it with a contract.
it's a 3d phone, im using it right now, pretty good. only issue is battery life span but the newer model is fixed i believe

He's still on his old contract, so he needs to get another CDMA phone and activate it on the verizon network, which as far as I know is expensive and a pain in the ass unless you go into the store and talk yourself into getting a hook up, but at this point, the ball is in the company's court they know if you don't pay full price for a new phone, you're fucked either way because you have to still pay the monthly service fees otherwise pay a ridiculous early termination fee.... AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHY I GO PREPAID GSM. FUCKING SHIT HAS HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE WHEN MY PHONE WAS STOLEN AND I DIDN'T HAVE INSURANCE (Which isn't too bad, I think something like 50 bucks a year? but still...). NEVER AGAIN.

I secretly made this thread to hear the dishonest scheme I knew you'd post.

Now, I consider myself a pretty honest person, but it's just not fucking fair that I ruin my 2-month old $650 phone when I've never lost or broken anything in my entire life - and this was the first time I ever said "nah, I don't need the insurance, I've never lost or broken anything in my entire life".

Karma owes me.

So, what's the worst case scenario with your plan? It sounds like something where I would either incur a restocking fee or receive my money back in best buy gift cards (that's if they believed that I was returning an oddly sticky phone to begin with). + I would need to somehow wipe everything that's on my phone, since I know my data is still there.

Not sure if this works for phones because they might have unique ID's they can check, usually a sticker where the battery goes. Plus he most likely activated the sticker that says the phones has been 'wet' also usually near the battery. If they check either of these the plan will fail. If it was Home Depot the plan would work for sure, but electronic stores are usually more cautious and aware since so much more money is involved.

A real man would eat the shit he created versus throwing it at someone else to deal with, though stuff like this has a near-insignificant impact on the larger scale, it's just that doing stuff like this impacts your character and has a ripple effect on other areas of life (because by doing it, you're acknowledging that it is an ok thing to actually do). Why not just walk away and buy a shitty replacement phone and then use it until you can save for a better phone again.
