What's the skill build supposed to be in situations where you might have kill potential early on?
I get a lot of ODs on my team that go 0-4-4 and skip ult at 6 and rape their lane, get a 8 minute midas... then after we lose and I check the dotabuff I see that our sweet solo mid OD did a grand total of 4.6k hero damage during the game. Less than every other team member

I like to take a level of orb, so I'm 1-3-2-1 at level 7... and go for a kill attempt. I also usually buy bottle on OD, I think you need to if you take an early level of orb.
I also never go midas, because it delays me running around killing shit with treads atos.
I've been flamed for my skill build and need to know if what I'm doing is ok or if that's some horrible shit

Whenever I play this hero, I somehow always go against invoker
I win the lane obviously, make a Midas, and everything's dandy. Then he disappears for like a second, gets two kills, has a 2 minute late Midas and comes back with a ganking party and suddenly the game is fucking over

I don't think I've ever seen 0-4-4. people always get 1 level of orb in there somewhere. most common at level 8 I think.

Well since no one was able to give any major insight I stalked some arteezy. He takes orb at 9 most of the time after going 0-4-3-1.
Im more interested in what people think is the best pub stomping build both skill wise and item progression wise

boots->midas->treads->forcestaff->bkb/sheep
lvl 1 orb isnt that much plus damage before your treads+forcestaff, but still get ult at level 6

Unless ur rtz or in a 3k mmr bracket 90% of the time u go midas in a pub as OD ur gonna instantly lose

depending on team comp and fights and such sometimes 3 in Astral is used by a lot of pro players so that you can set up for kills without having a super long 4 seconds however they will skill the 4th point by the time team fights start rolling so that they can remove a target from the fight for the max amount of time
consider that or whatever

i have much more sucess going straight force rather than midas in pubs
everyone just 5 mans you and your team is afk hitting creeps in the jungle with no tp
i usually get one pt in orb before ult

Get the midas to draw the aggression, counter-gank, take the mid tower. Max w first, you need the early essence aura to make sure you can keep spamming it. You won't maintain mana for q and w if you have a low level of e. Statue is hugely level dependent so you need the midas.
