Books thread don't work here because people just post obscure as fuck books for 8 pages them everyone is exhausted from googling and go back to rap lyrics

gonna read Perdido Street Station hope that shits good. i finished reading Black Company recently. nice fantasy book, part of a long series which I plan to read. i recommend it if you like fantasy, kinda the original gritty fantasy story (a la george rr martin).

Just finished re-reading the things they carried. Recently started "our band could be your life" which is just a profile of a few 80s underground bands, it seems okay. Also just started "where the body meets memory" which is a memoir written by some jap about his sexuality and his parents lives in internment camps, it's pretty good thus far.

The last fantasy I read was the song of ice and fire series, i started by watching game of thrones and the books were pretty enjoyable

good fantasy, depends what you want. the old style of it was much more about good and evil and now the trending style has more 'grey' or altogether evil main characters. i used to like tolkien, ursula le guin, pullman etc when i was younger which are generally the good and evil style. tolkien, read the hobbit first. le guin, wizard of earth sea. pullman, the golden compass. if you want to read some darker, grittier fantasy read books by joe abercrombie, george rr martin, steven erikson, glen cook, scott lynch etc.

I've posted probably two dozen excellent fantasy books in the other books threads so I'm not making the effort again. Search works if you use the options available to you.

On a related note I'm almost done Skin Game and it's dope as hell of course.

I personally enjoy autobiographies the most. There is just something about seeing events through someone else's eyes that I find incredibly enjoyable. Also really enjoy books on military strategy or biographies/analyses of military commanders, preferably those from antiquity.

Books on Napoleon are dope to. You got shit that says he is the best military mind ever and other shit that says all of his victories were luck and that he was retarded.

im a web developer so a lot of shit i read is from smashing magazine if im passing the time

individually i just kind of read books related to the language im interested in at the time. like right now im reading a lot of different javascript/backbonejs/angularjs things at the same time to help memorize it for my new job. (like http://addyosmani.com/resources/esse...patterns/book/)

i left college after the first year but i kinda miss learning higher level stuff so im still looking for reading material regarding computer theory or electronics -- i just dl'ed a 900 page book on algorithms (http://www.cs.uiuc.edu/~jeffe/teaching/algorithms/)

got anything to recommend from your studies skywalk3r?
