New to Scrimming?
I thought I'd share this here to anyone who's new to scrimming or just wants to learn a bit, most people here won't find much use to this but if you find the thought of joining a team intimidating and want to learn a bit, you might be interested in this.

Re: New to Scrimming?
THR has done this exact thing before. They called it the student-teacher program I think. They had a bunch of people form teams together and play with a "pro" to learn competitive DOTA. There were a few problems with this.
If you have a team of strangers playing together, its not going to be as fun as a team of friends playing together. The teams that last that longest aren't the best teams but the teams that like playing with each other the most. When people aren't have fun, they going inactive resulting in voids in these teams. So, scrims between different teams in the program would be set up but, one team or both teams would be missing multiple players. The teachers would fill in resulting in really unbalanced games and no one learning anything.
I'm not sure who on THR was in charge of this but, you should check it out over there if you are serious about this and maybe improve on it. Its a great idea in theory, just not sure how you can put it into practice effectively.

Re: New to Scrimming?
I'm sorry I hurt you deep inside for my blatant disregard for that game, if you told me in the beginning of the game that you would be scarred for life I might've managed more. I don't have an excuse for my play, I just went emo when i get roamed mid and my trilane top gets double killed. I hope you get over it ^^

Re: New to Scrimming?
the problem wasn't anything with the theory or w/e (aka the strangers / etc. part).. it was the fact that it never got run through.. i worked on it some there was near 40-50 people looking, only few "teachers", and when it came down to it nothing even happened with the people assigned, just blew it off or w/e..

but it doesnt even matter, its not like anyone is gonna teach dota successfully, the "teachers" would be made up of a bunch of teens with no concept of teaching im sure.signature removed

Re: New to Scrimming?
Since you sound so much better why the fuck don't you sign up yourself as a teacher? I'd do it but I rage way 2 easily. Also zieth is tight with grunt so you'll probably see him in some games, so sign up if you wanna do some serious dickriding

Re: New to Scrimming?
Even though the THR teacher thing was for the most part a failure, I can say with 100% certainty that there was at least one person that really benefited from it.

Re: New to Scrimming?
The only concept I have of teaching is from tutoring people in school, I figure I'll tutor in DotA. I'm not looking for miracles, I'm just going to have people calling out mana/cooldowns, communicating on vent, knowing the ward places, get some experience in teamfights discuss what went right/wrong, watch replays of our inhouses and just learn from our games.
