i wasn't used to doing work in highschool: get a good work ethic then, no matter how easy it may seem to you. i'm fucking skipping class left and right (meaning i have to play the catch up game) and i'm not doing my homework or studying and as a consequence i don't do as well as i should. i am doing well compared to the rest of my class, but the workload at university seems to be like 4x what i used to do in high school

    Re: college

Im going to community college for my first 2 years ( more than halfway done) and then im transferring over to medical school after i get my associates

advantage is i pay 400 for all of my classes per semester versus paying 400+ per class at a university because your first year or two of college is retaking highschool bullshit. Also it's sometimes easier to get into a university when you have a good gpa and they see that you've already completed two years.

    Re: college

Just remember that college = work. I, like many people, was able to get through high school with good grades to get into the university I wanted without doing shit. I did the homework that was required (graded) and went to class. I never studied for tests, including finals.

If you're this type of student, you will most likely be the same in college. Now I don't do much of anything, and skipping class is much easier, but my grades are noticeably lower than in high school. I can still pass every class without attending or reading a single page of the textbook, but I won't get A's anymore.

Decide what school you want to go to. Get the grades you need in high school. Recognize your study habits, and decide what kind of grades you want in college. Some college classes are of course easier than others, but the majority do require a good amount of work. The general estimate is 3 hours of work per credit (1 hour in class, 2 studying). I could get A's without doing that much, but it seems like a pretty standard workload for the tryhards.

Also, if you're in the US, better learn right away that the education system is built to fuck you over. After you apply to colleges, don't drop classes and don't let your gpa slip. Once you're in college, make sure you build a good gpa buffer your first few semesters so you can be admitted to whatever program you want.

If you lack motivation/don't study well, learn how to take tests. I can confidently pass any multiple choice test in any class by analyzing the questions properly. Multiple choice questions have nothing to do with the question or answer, it's all about the wrong answers. Professors write the tests in ways that allow you to spot the fakes. General rule of thumb - pay attention to the words "never" and "always". Almost everything in life falls under the "sometimes" category.
Also, D. All of the Above and E. None of the Above are demons. All of the Above is by far the most common answer if it is a choice. None of the Above is just meant to trick you.
Professors have giant egos. If you're taking a Marketing class, you can assume that the answers to questions will make Marketing seem essential. They tend to hype up their own fields. Same goes for psychology, and pretty much every subject.

That's my school advice for the evening.

    Re: college

Personally, I go to boarding school. So this means I have a lot of free time and independence to go about my work however I would like to. But, like Spit said, you should always remember a few things.
    1) effort
    2) time management and work ethic
    3) don't play catch-up
    4) don't get senioritis

I'm learning that the hard way now in my senior year. I skipped a class or two a week and would be screwed for any upcoming tests/quizzes. I would put off homework til the last second or just not do it at all, get grilled by my teachers and advisors, and then have to play catch-up again ANYWAY. I didn't study and I got C's. Now, I'm striving for about a 90 average in one of the most competitive New England boarding schools and that isn't even high honor roll, and I am probably in the 3rd quintile with that average. And to get a 90, I have had to spend anywhere from 4-7 hours a night on homework and studying. So, depending on the level of difficulty of your school/classes and your personal level of responsibility and commitment, I would say start building your way up to better work habits so that by the time you at 17-18 it is second nature to you. That's how it worked out for me.

jing: first time i saw my girl
jing: i mumbled for like an hour
jing: i couldn't even keep eye contact
jing: and she was like "can you speak up"
jing: and then i just fucking left

jing: i tried eating the girl out but i had no idea what i was doing
jing: i felt like she faked moans or w/e
jing: cause i had 0 idea of how to eat a girl out
jing: i flicked it with my tongue
jing: but eventually it got kind of repetitive and i had no idea what to do next
jing: what a fucking horrible story

    Re: college

Skipping class seems easy, don't do it unless you know you can handle it (im a first year)

Also! Transferring is getting harder because EVERYBODY is doing it nowadays. Keep that in mind.

Eh you kinda have to start worrying about it starting from sophomore at least, if you want a good chance of getting into college of choice anyways.
Few AP courses, mostly A's, using SAT prep book to study for the test helps a lot. Sure it's stressful but it's a joke workload compared to college.
I'm not undermining community college or anything here, but getting into a good university is never a bad thing.

idk about the all of the above / non of the above. i always look for patterns but never find it. people always talk about "oh if its all of the above pick it! if its none pick it!" etc. but i never really see the pattern

however, what you say about the fakes is definitely true. but imo, in higher skill tests the professor/test writer hides them better and puts more tricks.
