SGDQ 2017
Any good runs or drama worth watching so far?
Most of the really interesting/popular games are later on as usual.

saw this post on frontpage and it made me realize something. maybe the political correctness agenda killed the fun vibe and all that but at its very core gdq was a moment to discover new communities and stuff. nowadays these communities are either better integrated or couldn't live past the hype and ended up fading away.
pretty sure titles like mario maker are a good example of that. it's an ever evolving game with a high skillcap so you never face the risk of getting bored as a viewer, whereas most other titles that get speedrun mainly get traction due to nostalgia or when new glitches are discovered.Top 5 Anime (In Chronological Order)

its not even bad because of the pc stuff in particular, it's just that when you try to appeal to a larger audience and get actual sponsors you have to be more PG, same reason why esports shouldn't go mainstream. gamers are young and loud mouthed dudes who say stupid shit

pretty sure most of the reason is the announcer/host 90% of the time don't know the game being ran. They used to just be speedrunners who knew when they could talk during the run

I think keepitmello is right. Often, more professional events just aren't as fun. Especially in gdq's case where the added professionalism doesn't bring anything to the table. It's not like dota's ti where you get huge amounts of hype and production quality.
