True (and a core part of my original argument) but probably less impactful than you think it is.

People genuinely climb to a peak at 3k/4k and then never touch RMM again. It's not just a reporting bias on DB, it's something that actually happens.

4100 was top 1% according to Valve's numbers

Imagine if you had stuck it out and climbed that extra 100 points - you could be a top 1% dota player

I peaked at 4300 then dropped to like 4000-4100

Holy fuck my life is so much better now that I was top 1% of dota players.

According to my model there are an infinite number of theoretical dota players at 3k and below due to the fact the people entering the game and those who have never played the game make up a majority of the global population.

this whole mmr discussion is pretty dumb considering how boosting is a thing and that will never come out when you're filtering based purely based on numbers

I doubt boosting has much impact on the data at all

There's also smurfing to consider but both are really low numbers of people relative to the playerbase as a whole

the point is that both boosting and smurfing - albeit representing a low% - likely revolve around these peak mmrs that are noticed

There's no way boosting or smurfing have any real impact on that graph.

Hey Korok I'm trying to learn to play clockwerk. I just have a question about the skill build. Should I max Battery assault, like you committed battery and assaulted your girlfriend, Hook shot so I can punch my girlfriend's lights out, or rocket flare like the police fired in their pursuit and arrest of you.

    :beaten:

Not really, u weren't great but u were competent enough. U probs haven't played with actual 2-3k players in a while cuz they're pants on head retarded (due to lack of experience)

1% isn't even that small of a pool in all actuality

1% would have been top 10k players in NA if ur going off a 1mil player pool. not terrible tbh. i havent gained mmr in the past year of playing tho isnt that insane. stuck at low 4k forever.

Looks like a normal distribution to me dude.
