If you want to be "normal":

Not white. Shows dirt/sweat too much, and most people don't wash their sheets as much as they should.
Nothing too bright. No graphics on it - just a plain color.

Grey is a good choice because you can wash it with your lights (most people have way more darks to wash all the time).

Also note that a lot of dorms have extra-long beds, so make sure you're getting the right size. If you get jersey knit instead of regular sheets, they will easily stretch to fit extra-long (and are 10x more comfortable), so you can still use them in following years when you move out.

TLDR: I had grey jersey knit sheets, and I stand by my decision.

Don't fall for that shit. Every school says that. "special" means extra long. You can find these sheets in any store.

If you want to make sure, call your school and ask. You'll probably end up talking to a student receptionist who will be straight up with you. But seriously, there's nothing "special" they can do to sheets. They just sell them for more.
