Re: CP3 to Clippers
Go look at the Lakers rotation as it stands right now and say you disagree.

Edit to clarify:
Andrew Bynum has played 332 games over 6 seasons (regular season only); in other words, he has missed (on average) 1/3 of each season. Right now, he and Gasol are their only players that can actually play the 5, and Gasol is their only player at the 4 (unless you count Caracter, which I don't). Their small forward rotation looks like something David Kahn would wind up with. Oh, and Metta World Peace was barely checked in when Phil Jackson was around. Mike Brown is going to lose him quickly. Derek Fisher is arguably the worst starting PG in the NBA. Kobe is 33, and while his season averages over the last 5 or so years have been eerily consistent, there was an obvious drop-off in his athleticism last season. Will Kobe still be one of the best players in the league? Absolutely. Without a solid supporting cast, though, there's not a whole lot he can do. Oh, and there is no backup for him on the Lakers roster, and there's no way he can give them more than 32-33 minutes/night. So where are those other 15 2-guard minutes going?
Blake Griffin + Baron Davis was a phenomenal offensive combination. Blake Griffin with two elite passers on the floor, both of whom create space for him with their shot- and play-making ability? Not only is it a highlight reel factory, the ability of the Clippers to create easy shots around the rim (largely by throwing it up to Blake) is pretty phenomenal. DeAndre Jordan gives them an efficient big man in the middle, some more defensive presence down low, and another alley-oop target for Paul/Billups. Caron Butler is good (when healthy, so that's a little bit tricky). Anyway, the big difference here is that, while the Clippers aren't particularly deep, they don't really have to be: Griffin, Jordan, and Paul are young and can play big minutes if they have to; Billups and Butler are both in good shape, and there are decent backups to come in for them off the bunch to give them a breather when needed.
Anyway that's my 0.02 on the situation. For tonight, at least, the Clippers are the better team.

The clippers are the better team on paper, between the Lakers and the Clippers.
Shit, you'd have a hard time convincing people that Kobe is far superior to CP3 right now.NADota playpen members: Milkshake, NengLM, ironstove, Kanadian, MrSoada, xCom, qweasdzxcdot, insomHonestly, nadota has been overrun, or grown, or whatever you want to call it so it's no longer a little club, but a big fucking commercial/public site. Re: CP3 to Clippers
I'm a small-market fan and am sick of players forcing their way to big markets, demanding trades, and acting like prissy fucking bitches. My owner was one of the leaders behind the "WTF don't send CP3 to the Lakers for that!" bandwagon.
That being said, I completely disagreed with Stern's intervention.
However, it worked out for the Hornets in the long run. This is a much better deal than they were getting, especially if they value Gordon and Al-Farinou as long-term starters at their positions.
It's also a great trade for the Clippers. With CP3/Foye/Butler/Griffin, they have the start of something special. If they're better than the Lakers, the Clippers could become a MAJOR free agent destination. Imagine if they can upgrade their SG position, to bring Foye and Billups off the bench. Throw in a legit center (wish they didn't have to get rid of Kaman) and that team's built to contend.
Unfortunately, they're still the Clippers though.NADota playpen members: Milkshake, NengLM, ironstove, Kanadian, MrSoada, xCom, qweasdzxcdot, insomHonestly, nadota has been overrun, or grown, or whatever you want to call it so it's no longer a little club, but a big fucking commercial/public site.
