They could care less about people that want to attend. As long as they get 8 teams it's all gravy.

I know the timing isn't perfect, its never going to be, I had a thread earlier about when the best time was. People have different finals all over the place.

And for now, as shitty as it sounds, its basically what Ganked said, however I would love to have the best, most dedicated teams there, but how do I make it an invitational when almost all the teams that signed up were made on the fly and there's no stability in NA DotA 2. This is a format that has worked for the LAN in the past and we're going to see how it works now. This is the first DotA 2 tournament we're having so we had no idea what to expect, how many teams would come and which teams would come, our goal for this first tournament was to get 8 teams there. The 8 team limit is there because the venue is small and while I'd love to have more teams be able to make it, the LAN center would fall apart if more came. In the future, (probably the next one) I'm going to try and set up online qualifying rounds and the winners of those can go onto the LAN. It's still also a learning experience on how to best put this together on limited time and logistics.

I know its not perfect, but we're going to work towards that for the next LANs. I'd love any feedback you guys have for it so I can make this as an enjoyable experience for as many people as I can.
