For tf2 they had websites setup just for trading, (tf2outpost.com, tf2tp.com) idk if dota has any yet just cause its so new but i'm guessing it will. The thing with trading for money, it was through paypal so both people had to be honest. Thats where people would scam alot of the time so you gotta be careful.
