It might have been part of their agreement w Quantic if I remember correctly.

DH participation and them joining Quantic was announced at the same time.

Quantic couldn't have asked for a better stand-in on such short notice though. If their disappointing results from The International qualifiers fuels them into really focusing and buckling down, I could see them in the finals.

It apparently took a long time for money to change hands, and passports themselves take a long ass time to get created/shipped.

The money was in fact wired just two weeks ago which did not give enough time for expedited passport shipping which generally takes from 2-4 weeks. Unfortunate for the team and mikey, but I still believe in Quantic who will now have a week to practice with Matrim going into their most important tournament to date. I only hope the community will continue to support the team and players instead of finding any excuse to exacerbate drama.

The official statement from Mikey mentioned heading into Buffalo, and there's a passport agency in Buffalo. Passport agencies can get you a passport the next day if it's necessary, so I guess he didn't know about that option.

Sucks that this information is of no help now though, and it's unfortunate he won't get to go.

It's super hard to get it on the same day and very rare for that to happen. It's not like you can walk in and demand that it takes 1 day.

Especially because I assume Mikey doesn't have a New York ID or Birth Certificate (NC I assume?) and doesn't live with his actual guardians, there is no way in hell that it would take 1 day.

I bet Mikey wants to stay out of this drama mess and I'm making a few assumptions but they seem correct!
